Creative City Project's ‘Anthology: Elemental’ fuses poetry, craft cocktails, jazz music
Creative City Project is bringing back “Anthology: Elemental,” an evening of poetry, custom cocktails and live jazz music that will take place from Friday, Aug. 15 through Sunday, Aug. 17 at the Renaissance Theatre Company.
“Anthology: Elemental” is a 70-minute multisensory journey that guests will experience through story and flavor. Guests are welcomed to explore the five classical elements — earth, water, air, fire and spirit — through literary performances and paired artisanal drinks.
Between elements, the jazzy sounds of the Thomas Milovac Trio will serenade audiences.
“Our director, Aradhana Tiwari, brought poetry to life in a beautiful and striking way earlier this year in her show, ‘VersUS,’” Cole NeSmith, founder and artistic director of Creative City Project, said in a statement. “When we were conceptualizing the literary element of this year’s ‘Anthology,’ it was a perfect fit. This isn’t just readers reciting poetry. These incredible actors powerfully bring these poems to life.”
“Anthology: Elemental” is presented by Massey Services and produced in collaboration with Play The Moment, an artistic coalition that aims to build community engagement and encourage cultural growth through the performing arts.
“This show is a call to slow down and feel. In a world rushing past, ‘Anthology: Elemental’ invites us to root, to breathe, to burn, to flow — and to remember what connects us,” Aradhana Tiwari, director of Play The Moment, said in a statement. “With ‘Elemental,’ we’re inviting audiences to experience poetry not just as text, but as something embodied, alive and electric. Each element carries its own emotional charge — and through engaging the senses, we translate those energies into something visceral and immediate.”
